Launch event – September 27th
A new platform for sustainable projects
Sustainable Campus, a unit active since 2007 to promote sustainability at EPFL, is launching a new initiative for the next three years: Act for Change LAB. Conceived as a platform-laboratory of ideas, A4C LAB gives students (and employees) on campus the opportunity to design, develop and realize a sustainable idea, project or initiative.
Food, outdoor amenities, mobility, energy, waste, climate, social community… are examples of themes that require solutions to meet today’s challenges.
Recent projects, such as Campus Farmers or the new Bike Center, show how the campus can be transformed into a living laboratory for social and technological innovations in the field of sustainability, while promoting the participation of the EPFL community.
Act for Change LAB is an initiative supported by U-Change, a programme to encourage sustainable development supported by Swiss universities. A fund of CHF 100’000 is thus planned to finance and implement the projects selected on the extended campus (EPFL, its branches and other sites of special interest).
About 50 students participated in the A4C LAB kick-off event (May 17&18). Motivated by their curiosity and sensitivity to sustainable initiatives, participants have been able to exchange initial ideas and meet other potential project leaders with whom they could collaborate.
From now on and in the form of an open call for projects, all proposals will be analysed and evaluated with the support of the Sustainable Campus team.
Do you have a sustainable project to test at EPFL? Have you discovered a particularly interesting initiative and you want to implement it on campus? Would you like to integrate a concrete and sustainable component into your master or semester project?
Would you simply like to know more?
